Veteran’s Day

Today is Veterans Day in the United States, a day we set aside to appreciate those who have served in the us military for all of us. Thank you to all those veterans!

Jesus teaches us about service in Mark 10:44-45 saying, “and if one of you wants to be first, you must be the slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served; he came to serve and to give his life to redeem many people.”

Though Jesus’ service was to save our souls, US soldiers commit to serve an if necessary give their lives to save other’s lives. Jesus also tells us in John 15:13, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

The United States and the world would be a much different and more dangerous place for peaceful people if it were not for the service of our veterans.

Dear Lord, we thank you for all those who have served, putting others before themselves and following your example. Bless them, their friends, and families. In Jesus Name, Amen.

  1. God Bless the Men and Women of the United States Military, and most of all God Bless America

  2. Amen ! A heartfelt gratitude to the men & women who serve and have served and especially those who gave their life for our nation. “One Nation under God”.
    Amen!
Today I will put my American flag outside my house. I will stand back and salute it and proud to do so.
I use to see the flag flown a lot more in days gone by. I remember the day after 9/11 flags were flown everywhere. If you wanted one you couldn’t find one anywhere.
Two years ago my granddaughter sang the Star-Spangled Banner in a foreign country where she went to school. She was 10 years old then and in the video all the children were lined up with their hands over their hearts in respect to our American flag. I couldn’t believe it. Perhaps those children know more about honor and patriotism than we do.
Many people are trying to get into our nation and yet some who are already here don’t appreciate this land.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for His own inheritance. Amen!
    Psalm 33:12
