The book of Exodus tells the story of the Jews after God brought them out of captivity in Egypt. God was leading them to a new land, but even though he was there with them the entire time in the form of a pillar of cloud in the daytime, and a pillar of fire at night, they still had problems keeping their focus on him and his direction.
Just like the Jews in the desert, God wants us to look to him for our direction and strength and he will guide us.
In Hebrews 3 Paul recounts this story, and explains how God was leading them, showing them the path. In Hebrews 3:9-10 he writes, “But God was patient with them forty years, though they tried his patience sorely; he kept right on doing his mighty miracles for them to see. “But,” God says, “I was very angry with them, for their hearts were always looking somewhere else instead of up to me, and they never found the paths I wanted them to follow.”
God also has paths he wants us to take, but we need to look to him for guidance to know where they are.
Dear Lord, help us have the faith to look to you for guidance. Show us the paths you want us to follow. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Amazing to hear this today. I remember when I was young I had an older man that mentored me. He wasn’t my Dad but he was a man I looked up to. His sweet wife was such a strong woman but very tender. She was such a great help for my young wife. They loved us and helped us with good advice. The only thing we had to do was listen and I’am so glad we did.
The Bible says we should listen to wise council and yet many times we don’t. We go off and do what we want and not what we should or what we need to. I am seeing this more and more where young people who are suppose to be of faith acting like a horses *#£~% and not doing the Lords will even when it’s staring them right in their millennial face. They have twice the education as their parents and in many cases make twice the money in percentage as their parents ever did but have 10 times more debt. There always looking somewhere else instead of looking up. The Lord is trying to show them the path but it doesn’t match what they want.
Sound like anyone you know. Well you would have to live in a cave not to see it cause it’s everywhere.
Sometimes all it takes is getting on your knees. In fact that should be where we should start-everyday. But what do I know. I’am just an old geezer who is naive enough to believe their is a God in Heaven and He does answer prayers.
