Stay Away From Evil

Paul Writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Stay away from every form of evil.”

It is so much easier to do the right thing when we are not exposed to the temptations that pull us away. Is it easier to control our cursing and swearing if we avoid people who regularly curse and swear? What about TV shows and Movies, radio programs, blogs, web sites. How about controlling our behavior after a few drinks, late into the night? or our thoughts after seeing TV and movies with bad behavior?

By avoiding the evil in the first place, we set ourselves up to do the right things. Stop and think about what you are exposing yourself to, and ask if you are following Paul’s guidance.

Dear Lord, help us control our exposure to evil, so that we may better do your will. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

  1. Amen! For some this may require getting rid of the internet or television.
Job declared, I have made a covenant with my eyes not to look at another woman with lust.

I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. This phrase is one I heard a lot growing up and it’s one Christians need to use. Why waste our minds on smut and vile wickedness that is in this world.
Lord, we are set apart for Your glory. Forgive us for our weakness. Help us walk in Your power and not our own. Today Lord we make a covenant with Yoh not to lust after the things of this world. Help us glorify You in our speech, our mind and this body that You created. In Jesus name. Amen!
