A Living Letter

A Living Letter

2 Corinthians 3:2 Paul describes the people of the church as “living letters”. He says to them “you yourselves are our letters, written on our hearts”  known and read by everyone.” He goes on to say “you are a letter from Christ”

We need to think about that in our daily activities. We are Christ’s letter to people we encounter. Are we sending the right message?

Dear Lord, help us remember that we are your letter to the world, known and read by everyone. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Seek First the Kingdom

Text: Matthew 6:31-33 NIV   So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’  or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Think for a moment, If you could drop everything and do whatever you wanted today, no limits, what would it be?   There are so many great things on this earth to experience.

God made these things for us.

The beauty and awe of natural wonders like the Grand Canyon, Niagra Falls, the great mountain ranges, the beauty of finely crafted products, clothing, fantastic foods. There is nothing irreverent about wanting these things.

What Jesus tells us is that we should, first, search for, and pursue, His kingdom and righteousness. Continue reading Seek First the Kingdom

Always be Joyful

How many of you know someone who can be described as a “saved sour-puss?”  They always have some problem to highlight that they are struggling with.  Not to  minimize people’s problems, but we all have problems to deal with.  Often our problems are a test from God to help us grow.

In 1 Thessolonians 5:16-18 Paul writes to the believers there, “Always be joyful, Always keep praying, No matter what happens, be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” TLB  I am sure the folks Paul was writing to had problems like we do.  Arguably, their problems were more dire than we can imagine in the developed world of 2015.

Dear Lord, Help us remember Pauls words, and be Joyful and Thankful.  Joyful because we are saved and we know you will support us through our problems, and Thankful in for this amazing gift.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Seek Ye First the Kingdom Of God

31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
